Random Thoughts !!!

India is a great country where people with diversified backgrounds, cultures, faiths and large families live under the same roof. But are the people living in this mighty nation selfish when it comes to a few things like trust, faith and culture where they really localize their ideas, maturity and thoughts. How can people not come out of their shells and think "out of the box". Of course there are sentiments attached to the culture that their ancestors have brought along with them. But at some point it is the duty of the modern generation to think what was right and what was/is wrong. There can be a lot of maturity/peace and growth if people started to realize and use their logical aptitude to bypass the immoral moralities they make use of to build their castle of hatred and stubbornness upon.

Where is life heading !!!

Some days are fantastic, some are just fine and some are those which you never want them again in your life. Life is a mystery and yet no one is,can and will be able to demystify it. Today and yesterday have been one of a kind, just when I centralise strength from all corners and feel good, there comes a slap right on the face which brings me down like dust. In a moment from a big hero in my own eyes to a gigantic zero in my own eyes, feel like I know so many things for a moment and there comes something which makes you feel you do not even possess a minuscule part of it. It depends on the self to either succumb to it or as once a great orator said, rise till your goal is not achieved. I will stick to the later half, because it at least creates positive energy in me and above all I have nothing to lose in either case, but win if I stick to the later better part.

Art of management !!

This has indeed been the topic of discussion for the later half of the last century and undoubtedly is going to be a topic of concern for all analysts, strategists and critics for the rest of this century. After so much research and debate, no one is still able to clearly define if "Management" is a profession or an art. It would not be wrong to say that it cannot sustain alone with out treating it as a profession nor can it entirely rely on professionalism. The art of managing without understanding the risks (which you learn from experience and case studies) is like shooting arrows with your eyes blindfolded. What exactly is management and how can an individuals perception of it change how the firm, team or company operate. As far as I think I can only define management as a certification which entitles you to handle the technical aspects of a management issue and it is your experience and common sense that you use along with your tactical skills to trouble shoot a problem. Art and Professionalism are two sides of the same coin "Management". You can never see both sides at the same time yet you can never make monetary use of it without these two unique sides. The chance of either side showing up when you toss the coin is 50%. What separates a knowledgeable manager from the rest is when to trust which side of the coin and when to negate what shows up when you toss  it. Art of management is a random and stochastic approach to solve the same problem in many ways keeping in mind and considering the constraints that not only define the problem but also limit it. I have no professional experience neither do I have a degree in Business administration, but once I have both (In the next few years), I would actually revisit this article and see how much have I differed from my initial thoughts on the art of management. I will add more to this article before and after based on my experiences and findings.

I and my Adviser, Dr Tina Smilkstein

This picture was taken when Dr Tina had come to Columbia, Missouri for the defense of my friend Kittisak Sajjapongse {Thailand}. This picture was clicked minutes before we left for the defense. Dr Tina has been my graduate adviser since the fall of 2007. She is a great person to work with and her foresight is incredible. I have a learnt a lot from Dr Tina and there still a lot to learn from her. I consider her to be by mentor, my role model and a great teacher. Thank you Dr Tina.

May 27, 2010

Well, today is a different day, I had a good night sleep for little over four hours. My mistake... I was stuck doing some thing and the late coffee after 3 Am, really killed the sleep. But I am not going to repeat what I did yesterday. I am hoping that this day would be a good day. So far so good, everything seems to be going on track. An unexpected meeting just popped in. So I have to make arrangements for that now. I guess it should not take long, so I should get back to what I have planned for that after an hours break. Things are working good, so far so good. The day ended on a good note and I am confident that tomorrow will be promising too.

May 26, 2010

What do I say about this day.. a very routine day with a lot of expectations and aims... The day ends slowly with I realizing that nothing has been achieved in the list I planned to finish for the day. Now being highly dejected I let thoughts go off the priority channel and let laziness creep in.. This will keep repeating and nothing will be done. I have to bring a change and let go many things for many new things to come my way. Oh !! God the mountain of dejection is getting higher day by day , minute by minute and the tectonic forces of being unorganised  and unplanned is mounting up too. I have to have to get organised and plan to achieve what I plan for the day !!! Every day brings a new hope a new life and a new aspiration.. I have to learn to welcome the day as that day is going to be the last day... All this is very easy to write but difficult to implement... But I cant keep complaining and let days go by... I hope that the days after today will not be so disappointing and I will have some successful achievement to boast about each day from tomorrow.

Week away !!!

Nothing has changed in a week, except for the work. By change I mean it has become more bulkier and more complicated. The doomsday seems close but I am not able to get myself organized, composed and determined to finish work. I have to really start all my engines, press the accelerator to the max and get going. I don't want to  be left behind in this rat race.

Where did I go for  week. Well I had been to Dayton, Ohio. A nice city in the state of Ohio. It was fun and interesting. I will add more about this trip when I really have some time to talk with you all at length. Excuse me for now, and I promise to get back on blogging in some time.

What do I feel

What did I think when I was old enough to  think,
What did I feel when I started to feel,
What did I speak when I first started to speak,
Everything just comes and passes away,
We are left with no time to live for the moment,
The past is already gone, the present is slipping away fast and the future is not known,
We make friends, all our lives, some stay with us for our lives and some dont,
Some change their thoughts, feelings and speech,
All this makes me think,
What did I think when I was old enough to  think,
What did I feel when I started to feel,
What did I speak when I first started to speak.

Breif Description of the OSI Model

The OSI model is made up of " Application, Presentation, Session, Tranport, Network, Linking and Physical layers". These are stacked one below the other starting from the application layer and then ending the stack with the physical layer as its last layer. This stack is also called the protocol stack much so because each layer is a protocol and these protocols govern the way in which the layers communicate with each other. In the most general case we have one protocol stack at the source and one at the receiver. A source or receiver can be termed as nodes in the entire layout. Only the physical layers can communicate with each other directly. All other layes have to pass information from one to the other and then pass this information through the medium and rise up in the stack on the other end.

Communications Systems

For some weird reason I felt that I should start reading books on " Communication Systems". I am pretty much liking the book already. What I have read about in the first chapter is the generic definition of the word communication, Open Source Interconnect model and its protocol stack {I am going to concentrate on the physical layer protocol of the OSI model}, the basic communication system which comprises of the tranmsitter {Source} and the Receiver {the destination or information sink} and the most needed channel that is required to establish connectivity between the source and the destination.

Watched Sarkar, yet another time !!!

I have no words to express my appreciation and liking for the quality of work in the project. Everyone from Sarkar to Bhooshan, were just remarkable. The foreword by Mr. Verma, that Sarkar is his tribute to Godfather is true in every sense and regard. I think there has to be one Sarkar in every neighborhood, who does right things in the right way to lead the society, County, District and eventually the country in the right direction.

Research !!!

It was a very thought provoking meeting today with my graduate adviser. The project gets clearer and clearer when I speak to her. She is just too modest to explain things to me even for the millionth time and does not show a fringe on her face. I am heading in the right direction which fuels in more energy in me to work even better and to do the to do list. It's fun now and I am loving it.

Did not do a hell lot of blogging last couple of days !!!

The last couple of days were very tiring and un-happening with the temperatures going down and the feeling of actually achieving some thing dying in the cold. The weather is going to act like an spoil sport for another two days. Well, today was a good day and quite productive. The research meeting was very good and it cleared many  questions that I had in my mind. The idea of actually getting the Filter to work is very pleasing at the same time very demanding. I look forward to put the necessary efforts to get the system up and running. There are many questions that are unanswered but in due course of time as I advance into getting the system running I will be able to solve them with ease. (Well, that's what I hope for!!!)

The fittest survives !!

The Darwinian theory of evolution can be plainly explained as the survival of the fittest. The nature limits the rate of evolution and spans its growth over a million years. The rate at which the life in all its regards (existence, technology, housing, nature, violence, retirement and competition) is growing is very alarming and global evolution has become very dynamic. The changes that are occurring in the system are at alarming rates and these changes are difficult even for the fittest to adapt too. Will this fight for existence eventually phase out with these dynamic changes. Every one needs time to adapt to changes and the evolution takes time to learn. I am afraid that we don't have this time.

General Motors

General motors recorded a 14 % jump in its sales and the automaker has it's fourth consecutive profitable month. I hope this company comes back to business and reclaims it number one spot. There is lot for Toyota and Honda to think about at thin point in time.
